    Plan of the battle of Fisher's Hill, Virginia. Fought September 22nd, 1864. Despite a strong natural defensive position near Fisher's Hill, south of Strasburg, Va., Early's Confederates were overwhelmed by Sheridan's greater numbers. Map shows the flanking movement led by Crook as well as the position of the Union forces just prior to their frontal assault. The detail of the distribution of the Confederate forces was contained on that portion of the map that is missing.
