    Library of Congress Announces New Chief of the Packard Campus of the National Audio-Visual Conservation Center The Library of Congress has appointed Patrick Loughney as the chief of the Packard Campus of the National Audio-Visual Conservation Center, in Culpeper, Va. Loughney will oversee the state-of-the-art facility where the Library of Congress acquires, preserves and provides access to the world’s largest and most comprehensive collection of movies, television programs, radio broadcasts and sound recordings.

    Librarian of Congress Receives 2005 Hollywood Film Preservation Award Librarian of Congress James H. Billington received the 2005 Hollywood Film Preservation Award at a star-studded gala in Los Angeles on Oct. 24. The Ninth Annual Hollywood Film Festival honored Billington for his advocacy and leadership in the preservation of the nation’s film heritage.
