Listen to this narrator tell you about herself. This is Kimberly Schraf. A veteran of fifteen years of book narration and seventeen years on the professional stage, I happily divide my time between these two activities. As a narrator for NLS, some of my favorite titles have included Savage Beauty, A Map of the World, Little Altars Everywhere, Fierce Pajamas, and The Best American Short Stories of the Century. In 2002 I was delighted to receive the Alexander Scourby Award for Fiction honoring my narration of Bee Season by Myla Goldberg. As an actor I have performed on dozens of Washington, DC, and Baltimore stages, as well as at the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland. Among the roles I have most enjoyed are the Angel in Tony Kushner’s Angels in America, Kyra in David Hare’s Skylight, and Lanford Wilson’s one-woman show, The Moonshot Tape.
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, I currently reside in Washington, DC. I attended St. John’s College in Annapolis as an undergraduate, where I studied the Great Books and translated Ancient Greek. I devote some of my time to teaching at The Parkmont School, an alternative high school, and The Theatre Lab, offering theater instruction to adults.
