The National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS) and the Library of Congress (LOC) were pleased to welcome the Libraries Serving Persons with Print Disabilities (LPD) Section of the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) to Washington, D.C., in August 2024.
NLS is a free braille and talking book library service for people with temporary or permanent low vision, blindness, or a physical, perceptual, or reading disability that prevents them from using regular print materials. Through a national network of cooperating libraries, NLS circulates books and magazines in braille or audio formats that are instantly downloadable to a personal device or delivered by mail free of charge. LPD is one of IFLA’s professional sections and is made up of representatives from libraries and other organizations supporting people who are blind or print disabled. LPD advocates for library services that are equitable and accessible for any person with a print disability, especially for equal access to materials, knowledge and information, equal cost and quality.
Here you will find more information about the meetings and presentations that took place in LOC’s Madison Building.
