News and Updates

Stay up-to-date on National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS) news, updates, and events!

NLS News is a quarterly publication where you can read about the latest NLS products and initiatives, achievements of notable patrons, special events, historic milestones, and more. You’ll also find an archive of issues—including back issue in ebraille—from the past few years.

Music Notes, the blog of the NLS Music Section, highlights recent acquisitions and items of interest in the world’s largest collection of accessible music scores and instructional materials. Like other Library of Congress (LOC) blogs, you’ll enjoy its archives, which are easily searchable.

Overseas Outlook is the semiannual newsletter for NLS patrons living abroad, produced by our Overseas Librarian. Contact the Overseas Librarian at [email protected] for more information on the newsletter and overseas service.

NLS in the News archives news releases about NLS from the LOC.

Events and Exhibits details recent and upcoming NLS events, both in-person and virtual, and the latest schedule of conferences and conventions where NLS will be exhibiting. You’ll also find links to videos from past events.

If you want to find out more about regularly scheduled online programs that will enrich their NLS experience, check out the upcoming Patron Corner and The Many Faces of BARD events and enjoy streaming audio from past online events. Curious about BARD improvements recently made? Find the latest updates to BARD now or the firmware of NLS talking-book machines.

Want to get the latest news and updates from NLS, including information about upcoming events and projects? Introducing Patron Announce, a regular email service from your Patron Engagement team that includes timely information about the NLS program, services, and products. New announcements arrive in your inbox a few times a week. If you are interested in signing up, send your name and email address to the Patron Engagement Section at [email protected].
