This collection focuses on Thomas Alva Edison's invention of the phonograph, the kinetograph (a motion picture camera), and the kinetoscope (a motion picture viewer). In addition to offering histories of these inventions and Edison, the collection contains some of the surviving products of Edison's entertainment inventions and industries, including motion pictures and sound recordings of prominent musicians, singers, and vaudeville performers of the period; and motion pictures of events, places, prominent people, dramas and comedies.
