| Adoption | According to Annie Schweikert in A Guide to the QuickTime File Format (link available through Internet Archive), "ProRes has been associated with QuickTime since its release in 2001, when the two were bundled together in Apple’s Final Cut software. Though certainly a product of Apple’s own marketing, the pairing makes sense from a structural standpoint as well, as Apple designed ProRes to mimic QuickTime’s atomic structure."
