Program National Book Festival

2005

David McCullough, two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, accepted the Reading Advocacy Award presented by Half Price Books and signed over 700 books for his fans.

NBA and WNBA stars, including All-Star Bob Lanier, enlightened the kids on the importance of reading.

Letters About Literature awarded six young writers recognition, out of 46,000 contestants, for their letters written to authors who inspired them to change their view of the world and themselves.

Vocal anti-war protestors occupied the Mall at the same time as the Festival, but did not disturb the event. Some even attended!
