Program National Book Festival


The National Book Festival Young Readers’ Online Toolkit was launched, bringing the National Book Festival to classrooms, libraries, and homes across the country (accessed via the Festival homepage).

Veterans involved with the Veterans History Project spoke about their war stories in the Library of Congress Pavilion.

The “cozy corner” was a bilingual place for English and Spanish children’s books, which encouraged kids and parents to read together.

Al Harrington from the Golden State Warriors visited and read to the children as a part of the NBA Read to Achieve program that encourages adults to read with children.

Attendance: 120,000

  • Holly Black, author of The Spiderwick Chronicles
  • Judy Moody author Megan McDonald
