Program National Book Festival

2015

A record 170-plus authors and illustrators were greeted by thousands of book lovers at the 15th National Book Festival.

For the second year, the Festival took place at Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The lower level featured everything from book signings, to presentations about the Library of Congress, and a virtual maze. Book talks took place on the upper level with each hall standing room only.

The Festival featured the public debut of Poet Laureate, Juan Felipe Herrera, where he announced his laureateship project, La Casa de Colores. With this he invited Americans to contribute to an “epic poem” about the American experience.

This years artwork was created by Peter de Sève. The young reader pictured was inspired by his daughter, and the actual positions he found her reading in.
