Using the Reading Room

The Moving Image Research Center is located on the third floor of the James Madison Building, Room LM-336. Appointments are optional, but encouraged in order to ensure that collection material is accessible during your visit and to optimize your time at the Library. Request a research appointment

The majority of our moving image collection is stored off-site. Therefore, we strongly advise that you contact reference staff a minimum of two weeks before your visit to allow time to retrieve collection materials and to provide you with any additional information you might need. Our hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., except Federal Holidays.

Users of the Moving Image Research Center are required to have a Reader Identification Card issued by the Library. Cards are free and can be obtained by completing a registration process and presenting a valid driver's license, state-issued identification card, or passport. Researchers must be 16 and above years of age at time of registration.
