The majority of the resources in this guide are freely available on the Internet. Some of the resources are available only to researchers working onsite at The Library of Congress in which case the citations are marked "Access limited to onsite patrons and other subscribers." This is due to subscription database publishers' licensing agreements. However, these databases may also be available to you from your local university or research institution. Please check with your business and economics librarian.
This guide is not an exhaustive list of resources but rather a good starting point for Latin American business and economics research online. It is not a list of the vast number of print resources available in The Library of Congress Latin American collections, however examples of how to search for print publications in business and economics topics is provided in LC Catalog Searches.
It is assumed that a researcher of Latin American business and economics is able to search and read resources in Spanish and/or Portuguese. Each of the resources which require the researcher to have a command of the languages are marked with "Spanish interface" or "Portuguese interface."
Please send research questions within the scope of this guide to Ask-A-Business Librarian. For questions on other academic disciplines on Latin American please send questions to the Hispanic Division reference specialists of The Library of Congress.
