This is an historical overview of the brewing industry in the United States beginning with the colonies and moving west as the country expanded. There is attention paid to specific geographic histories like New England, Virginia (with a chapter on Thomas Jefferson), New York, Philadelphia, the southern states, the Mississippi River valley, etc. There is a discussion on Prohibition including how brewers organized both before and after.

This article is a generalized overview of local breweries in the years leading up to Prohibition and their position in the industry as competition to national firms.

This book is a more current look on the industry. There is discussion on industry concentration and leading mass producers, imports and domestic brewers, and brand proliferation. There is also discussion of strategic behavior around prices, advertising, mergers, etc. Appendix sections include data and sources, and mergers, ordered by acquired firm. There is also a significant references section.

There is also information on advertising, supplier performance, imports/exports, economics, consumer characteristics, projections, international information, and retail outlets by state.

Holdings 1944-1996. This is a mostly statistical publication covering production, sales etc. Each chart does include historical information going back to some point though that varies. Some data goes back less far though some can go as far back as 1863. In 1958 and 1963 this also included a volume that published laws/regulation, general information, etc. on the U.S. and other countries.

Holdings 1887-1920, as Western Brewer, and 1920-1958 as Brewers Journal. Title includes articles on people, companies, the trade as well as advertisements for equipment/supplies. Mostly covers the U.S. but there is international coverage like the architectural drawings of a brewery/ice plant in Mexico that ran in the January 15, 1901 edition. Also, it regularly features statistics/data like the pull-out chart in an October 1901 edition that had production in barrels of malt liquors from 1875-1901. This publication includes lots of photographs of people and plants. Each volume puts all of the news part of the publication in front and the advertisement sections for each issue follow and there is an index per volume.
