This section provides researchers with access to online economic, business and trade encyclopedias, dictionaries, and glossaries. The resources displayed on this page provide extensive lists of definitions, technical terms, and phrases covering the related fields. Many of links include detailed descriptions and explanations of business and economic related terminology. This section is intended to serve as a general reference aid and guide to online reference resources.

This four-volume encyclopedia contains approximately 450 essay entries written by experts. Provides information on many topics dealing with the development of trade around the world throughout human history and how trade is intertwined with the political and social issues of the period. Includes excellent subject, biographical, and geographical indices. Also provides a "topic finder" which offers a useful breakdown by categories such as commodities and trade organizations.

This three-volume encyclopedia covers the development of the tariff and its relationship to trade in U.S. history from 1600s to 2003. Volume 1, The encyclopedia. Volume 2, Debates of the issues. Includes a number of selected primary documents such as the General Agreement of Tariffs and Trade amended through 1966 and the Gore-Perot debate over the ratification of the North American Free Trade Agreement. Volume 3 holds the texts of the tariffs passed by the U.S. Congress 1789-1930. It ends with tariff acts in 1930 when Congress allowed the executive branch to negotiate reciprocal trade agreements. This reference work includes a subject index and an extensive bibliography. A list of tariff acts by easily identifiable titles and dates is offered which is very helpful since after 1860 most tariffs became more widely known by the names of the congressmen who sponsored them.
