The National Poverty Center was established in the fall of 2002 as a university-based, nonpartisan research center. The Center conducts and disseminates multidisciplinary, policy-relevant research on the causes and consequences of poverty; evaluates and analyzes policies to alleviate poverty; and engages in the mentoring and training of poverty researchers.
