The Penn Institute for Economic Research (PIER) was established in 1993 to promote and enhance economic research at the University of Pennsylvania. PIER administers seven research programs in the areas of econometrics, empirical microeconomics, financial economics, international economics, macroeconomics, microeconomic theory, and political economy, which mirror the primary fields of research of the economic community at Penn. Research results and analyses are disseminated to the broader academic community in PIER's working paper series.
