For information regarding the types of assistance we can offer,
please see our Research Reference Policies.
The Geography and Map Division will respond to requests that cannot
be answered by a library in the inquirer's locality. It is not possible,
however, to undertake extensive research projects or to assist students
in preparing bibliographies, term papers, or other academic assignments.
We will respond to inquiries received through the following points
of contact, although we are only able to do limited research for
inquiries made via the telephone.
We provide basic research assistance related to the cartographic collections in the Library of Congress and answers to queries requiring resources unique to the Library of Congress. We will provide a response to your question within 5 business days.
