Free-Lance Researchers
If your local library cannot help and a visit to the Library of Congress is not going to be feasible, there are freelance researchers who can assist patrons unable to visit the Library. While this is not the ideal solution, since you'd probably prefer to examine the material yourself, it would give you access to the collections.
The Library's Prints and Photographs Division provides a list of freelance picture and copyright searchers.
The National Archives offers a list of researchers in different subjects, in D.C. and beyond.
Additionally, professional genealogical researchers can be found through the Association of Professional Genealogists and the Board of Certification for Genealogists .
The Library cannot vouch for these freelance researchers; it simply provides these resources for informational purposes. The Library neither makes arrangements for service nor sets fees, which vary. In addition, the Library assumes no responsibility for the promptness or quality of work performed.
