Library of Congress Resources: Official Reports

Currently, one responsibility of the organizing committee staging the games is to issue an official report. This was not always the case, but there are publications which have served this purpose and that are recognized as such by historians. Official reports have evolved to the point where there are now separate volumes for the events and for the organization of the games. The Library's collection is large but incomplete. These reports are best retrieved by a keyword search which includes the name of the city and the year of the games. Mallon's Olympic Bibliography (see the general bibliography section of this guide) is the best source for identifying the titles of these official reports. The library of the LA84 Foundation holds a complete set, and these are available in full text online (In PDF format).
