Publication and other forms of distribution: May be restricted. Images in the James Goode collection were gathered by author James Goode in the course of researching and illustrating his books, in particular, Capital Losses: A Cultural History of Washington's Destroyed Buildings (Smithsonian, 1979), and Best Addresses: A Century of Washington's Distinguished Apartment Houses (Smithsonian, 1988).
Rights for the images may lie with the repository from which he obtained the images and/or a third party. If restricted, permission to publish the image should be obtained from the rights holder(s). For images found in LOT 11800 and LOT 12013, the captions found with the photographs in the LOTS and in the negative caption shelflist include the source of each image and whether it is restricted.
Privacy and publicity rights may also apply.
