Works by Winold Reiss acquired by the Library prior to 2008 are unrestricted, as these gifts and purchases included intellectual property rights. Privacy and publicity rights may apply.

Rights to works by Winold Reiss given to or purchased by the Library during 2008 or later have been retained by The Reiss Archive. Contact [email protected]
- Rights to works by others, regardless of when they were acquired require analysis of the creator/copyright holder for the item in question. For example, photographs by Underwood & Underwood would fall under rights pertaining to images by that firm.
The date and method of acquisition by the Library of Congress appear in a note in the online catalog record for each item.
In all cases, privacy and publicity rights may also apply.
Access: Subject to P&P policy on serving originals.
Unprocessed materials are served by advance arrangement (see: "Access to Unprocessed Materials" - /rr/print/info/022_unpr.html). Some materials may be too fragile to serve.
Reproduction (photocopying, hand-held camera copying, photoduplication
and other forms of copying allowed by "fair use"): Subject to P&P policy on copying. This policy prohibits placing some materials on a photocopy machine.
