Title
- Study on Ancillary Copyright Protections for Publishers' Roundtable
Summary
- The Copyright Office is undertaking this study at the US Congress's request to evaluate the desirability of additional protections to secure press publisher rights against third-party use of their content. The European Union recently implemented such protections. The Copyright Office will consider, among other issues: The effectiveness of publishers' existing rights in news content under US copyright law, as well as other federal and state laws; Whether additional protections are desirable or appropriate; The possible scope of new protections; How such protections would interact with existing rights and international treaty obligations.
