Complete call number or a classification number assigned by Library and Archives Canada (LAC) or a Canadian organization other than LAC.
Excludes those numbers assigned from the National Library of Medicine classification system, the Universal Decimal Classification, and the Dewey Decimal Classification. These latter numbers are input in fields 060 (National Library of Medicine Call Number), 080 (Universal Decimal Classification Number), and 082 (Dewey Decimal Classification Number), respectively.
First Indicator - Existence in LAC collection
Whether or not the item is contained in the Library and Archives Canada collection.
Used in any record input by an institution other than LAC.

Second Indicator - Type, completeness, source of call/class number
The type of number involved (whether it is Library of Congress Classification (LCC) or an LCC-compatible call/class number, or a call/class number assigned from some other classification scheme), the completeness of the number, and whether the number was assigned by Library and Archives Canada or a Canadian organization other than LAC. (An LCC-compatible call/class number is a number that has been assigned using the schedules that were specifically developed by LAC for Canadian history (FC, or its precursor F5000) and for Canadian literature (PS8000). The term does not include numbers from locally modified or expanded LCC schedules.)
An LCC or LCC-compatible call number (value 0 or 3) is one that includes shelflisting information in addition to the LCC or LCC-compatible class number.
An LCC or LCC-compatible class number (value 1, 2, 4, or 5) is one that does not include any shelflisting information. A “complete” class number (value 1 or 4) is one that does not require a Cutter as a further extension. An "incomplete" class number (value 2 or 5) is one that requires a Cutter number as a further extension. Incomplete class numbers are always followed by an asterisk.
For non-LCC call/class numbers (value 6, 7, 8, or 9), the source list or scheme used to assign the number may be identified by a code in subfield $2 (Source of call/class number).
