The Cataloging in Publication (CIP) Program serves the nation’s libraries by creating bibliographic records, in advance for publication, for books most likely to be widely acquired by U.S. libraries. -
The Preassigned Control Number (PCN) Program assigns a Library of Congress Control Number in advance of publication to those titles that may be acquired by the Library of Congress as well as some other categories of books. -
PrePub Book Link is a customer service application system that brings together the CIP and PCN Programs into one consolidated system while preserving the mission of both programs, which is to provide quality prepublication data to publishers. -
The Copyright Office registers copyright claims, records information about copyright ownership, provides information to the public, and assists Congress and other parts of the government on a wide range of copyright issues, both simple and complex. -
The Library of Congress Publishing Office creates books, calendars, coloring books, puzzles, quiz decks, and other products that showcase the collections, services, history, and scholarship of the world’s largest library. -
A standard identifier for notated music (e.g., scores, parts, sheet music, song books, teaching methods, tablature) whether published in print, online or other media. -
A standard identifier for serials and other continuing resources (e.g., journals, magazines, newsletters, newspapers, annuals, ongoing series, blogs, podcasts, repositories, etc.) whether published in print, online or other media. -
Best practices for ensuring the preservation of, and long-term access to, the creative output of the nation and the world, in both analog and digital formats.
