Reading Room Access, Hours, and Location

SCOPE:
The Performing Arts Reading Room is the access point for collections in the custody of the Music Division.  These include books on music, music scores (printed and manuscript), music periodicals, and special collections in music, theater, and dance. Sound and video materials are in the custody of the National Audio-Visual Conservation Center and may be requested in the Recorded Sound Research Center and the Moving Image Research Center.
LOCATION:
Madison Building, Room LM 113 on the first floor (entrance on Independence Avenue, between First and Second Streets, S.E., Washington, D.C.). Map.
HOURS:
8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday - Saturday. Appointments encouraged. (Closed Federal holidays.)

REQUIRED:
Library of Congress Reader Identification Card. Get a new reader card if you donít have one, or if yours is expired. A Library of Congress Reader Card is required to use the reading rooms and pre-registration should be completed online.
ACCESS:
Certain rules and regulations apply to the general use of the collections of the Performing Arts Reading Room. Additional restrictions may apply to specific materials. Researchers wishing to work with special collections are advised to inquire in advance about availability of material since many special collections are stored off-site.
METRO:
Capitol South Station (Blue and Orange Lines). Strongly encouraged.
PARKING: Limited metered street parking.
