Top Level Element: <affiliation>
Guidelines for Use<affiliation> is a container element to encode the affiliation name and associated information for a person or organization identified by <authority>. This element is optional and repeatable. If used, at least one of the subelements must be included. <affiliation> can be repeated to show multiple affiliations related to a name. Guidelines for UseUsed to provide additional information about an organization associated with the authoritative name. If the organization itself is the authoritative name, it should appear in the <authority><name> field with type="corporate" and not in this element. The Library of Congress maintains a list of Name and Title Authority Source Codes that can be used in the authority attribute of this element to specify a controlled list from which the organization name is taken. This element is optional and repeatable. Guidelines for UseThe date may be in textual or structured form. If it is structured, the encoding attribute should specify the format. When a date is uncertain or cataloger-supplied, indicate this through the use of the qualifier attribute rather than inserting characters such as "ca.", brackets, or a question mark as part of the date string. If there is both a start and end date related to <dateValid>, the point attribute should be used. This element is optional and repeatable but strongly recommended.
