The Collection Development Overviews in this section are brief descriptions of various segments of the Library of Congress’ collections. Originally written in the summer of 1993, the overviews were revised and updated in 2008. These overviews are intended primarily as internal documents to advise the staff about the complex, rich, and diverse collections of the Library. It is hoped that the overviews also may be of interest to a wider community of librarians, researchers, and potential patrons of the Library’s collections. Comments, queries, and other communications regarding Library of Congress collections are welcomed and may be directed to Ask-A-Librarian forms at //www.loc.gov/rr/askalib/.
