The LC Guidelines for authority records are used by LC catalogers and institutions participating in NACO or SACO for creating authority records to be added to the Library of Congress authority files. The guidelines may also be used by institutions that need or want to know special LC practice for authority records. These guidelines are intended to be used in conjunction with the MARC 21 Format for Authority Data.
Electronic versions of both documents are also available through Cataloger’s Desktop.
