Program LOCal

LOCal Overview

LOCal is a multiyear pilot initiative to expand access to Library of Congress digital collections through partnerships with public libraries and the communities they serve. This initiative is a collaboration to create meaningful digital experiences by activating Library of Congress digital collections, exploring emerging technologies and approaches, and expanding programming in communities outside of Washington, D.C.

Through LOCal, the Library of Congress is co-creating unique and exciting digital experiences with the Eastern Oklahoma Library System and Cleveland Public Library for communities to engage with the Library of Congress in their own neighborhoods. Each LOCal partnership will produce a unique on-site experience as well as a series of programs held in public library branches in the partner region that showcase Library of Congress’ collections, services, and resources that align with local interest.

The project is made possible by philanthropic support from the Carnegie Corporation of New York and other generous funders.
