How to Apply

Authors and self-publishers can immediately create an account in PrePub Book Link without waiting for approval by library staff.Once the account is created authors and self-publishers can begin submitting LCCN Requests to receive a pre-assigned control number. To create your PPBL account please go here and use the Create account button.

Publishers who would like to participate in the PCN Program must first apply for a PCN Publisher Account in PrePub Book Link. Once the publisher account has been approved, publishers can begin submitting LCCN requests. Publishing houses with multiple imprints should create an account for each imprint.

Based on the information provided by the author or publisher, Library staff assign a preassigned Library of Congress Control Number (LCCN) to each title. The publisher or author prints the LCCN on the back of the title page (i.e., the copyright page) in the following manner:

Creating a new PCN Publisher Account

To obtain Library of Congress control numbers for your forthcoming books, you must first complete the Application to Participate and obtain an account number and password. The account number and password will provide you access to the appropriate form for requesting Library of Congress control numbers. Account approval usually takes about 10 business days.
