History
The Linked Data Advisory Committee (LDAC) was disbanded on March 14, 2025, following its periodic review in 2022. This decision reflects the growing maturity of the PCC community in linked data, with many members actively experimenting with and applying linked data in various capacities.
Established in April 2016 under Action 2.1 of the PCC Strategic Directions, 2015-2017 (PDF; 530 KB), LDAC was charged with “guiding how the linked data movement would impact PCC standards and policies and identifying areas where the PCC could make significant contributions.” Since then, LDAC has played a pivotal role in shaping the PCC’s approach to linked data, fostering linked data expertise within the PCC community, and producing or contributing to key documents such as:
- Linked Data and RDA: Considerations for PCC Policy Committee (2018) [PDF; 109 KB]
- Formulating and Obtaining URIs: A Guide for Usage of Commonly Used Vocabularies and Reference Sources (2020) [PDF; 4.6 MB]
- PCC and the BIBFRAME Model (2021), which affirmed PCC’s commitment to linked data.
