History

The Linked Data Advisory Committee (LDAC) was disbanded on March 14, 2025, following its periodic review in 2022. This decision reflects the growing maturity of the PCC community in linked data, with many members actively experimenting with and applying linked data in various capacities.

Established in April 2016 under Action 2.1 of the PCC Strategic Directions, 2015-2017 (PDF; 530 KB), LDAC was charged with “guiding how the linked data movement would impact PCC standards and policies and identifying areas where the PCC could make significant contributions.” Since then, LDAC has played a pivotal role in shaping the PCC’s approach to linked data, fostering linked data expertise within the PCC community, and producing or contributing to key documents such as:

Throughout its tenure, LDAC collaborated closely with Standing Committees and Task Groups, offering invaluable guidance and practical expertise. Since 2018, PCC has established 14 linked data-related task groups and 11 RDA-related task groups, all of which have benefited from LDAC’s expertise.
